Machine Shop Access Policy

Students will need to complete module training in order to obtain required access to the Machine Shop. Training will be provided through modules listed below. The student’s level of training will be indicated on a Machine Shop Badge, which needs to be displayed at all times when in the Machine Shop.

Space in modules is limited and available on a first-come-first-served basis. Shop fee per module is payable through the links below. Mechanical engineering students receive preference over non-mechanical engineering students.

Fall 2025 Shop Module Schedule

You only need to sign up for one module in the area you are interested in. The sections are identical, just offered at different times and dates.

Basic Modules

  • Meets in MEB 1221 w/ the 2650/25655 Labs
  • Basic Training Module is a prerequisite to a Lathe and/or Mill module
  • Sign-up for ONE MODULE via the schedule below for the desired date/time
  • Machine Shop Badge available in the Mechanical Engineering main office upon successful completion of the Basic Training Module
  • Fee $50
